Vegan Pizza Day(s)???

So I think I interpreted Vegan Pizza Day as Vegan Pizza Days....

Friends and I were looking for a fun place (bar w/ good food) to watch the Lakers v. Celtics game.  Somehow we ended up at Oak Fire Pizzeria (Oak Fire Pizza) on La Cienega Blvd in WeHo. To my excitement, they had A VEGAN PIZZA PIE OPTION! They also allow you to pick any other regular pie they have and VEGANIZE IT!  I went with the Exotic mushroom with Truffle Oil Pizza and had them swap it with vegan cheese.

So, here's my yumminess breakdown of the pizza:
1. They use soy cheese, I'm not a huge fan. But it was tolerable.
2. Their crust are ULTA THIN and CRISPY. AMAZINGGG!!!
3. Veggies were OK. Could have used more truffle oil, seemed like they were skimping.
4. Overall, would def go back but prob try a different pizza combo next time around. Maybe the DEEP DISH VEGANIZED!

They also have beer on tap and wines/full alchie bar! Great atmosphere, huge TVs to watch games/shows.  Unfortunately My Lakers lost, but the food kinda made up for it :)

Calling all VEGAN GLUTEN-FREE foodies out there!

Hi kids,

So, I know a lot of us out there have gluten allergies, it's the cool thing to have nowadays :) haha, but no joke, I, myself try to stay away from gluten as much as I can because I feel much lighter, less bloated, and overall better. Agreed?

So, I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I LOVE TO COOK.  Baking, not so much. But, anything that makes baked-tasting goods without the actual baking, I am ALL FOR!

During my scavenging, months ago, for a good gluten free vegan breakfast item, I found this website: Hannas Vegan Kitchen.

And after searching around, I found this recipe: Hanna's Gluten Free Cornmeal Pancakes.  They are BOMB. And light, and BOMBB!! I sub the brown rice flour for almond flour (Bob Mills) and add some blueberries or bananas and it works out PERFECTLY! Even my non-vegan family members LOVE IT...

So, check Hanna's site out and give them yummy cakes a shot this weekend...You will not be disappointed :))

My Saturday Part 2

I think it's safe to say that I love food and the act of eating. 4th restaurant post in the 2nd day of starting a site? Yup, think so.

So, tonight my cousins and I went to Venice and were meaning to go to Gjelina's but once we got there realized they were having a private party :( Next choice was a sushi restaurant down the street: WABI-SABI on Abbot Kinney (website: Wabi Sabi Sushi. Ok, so I didn't eat any sushi, but my cousins who did said it was so-so.  So why even write this post, you may be asking. Because this place had THE BEST ASIAN VEGAN SOUP i have ever had, EVER!! It's called the VEGAN MUSHROOM MISO SOUP, warm, cozy, fragrant, and filled with fresh veggies, firm tofu and the most delicious pan-fried rice cake (it gets all moist and soaks up the yummy flavors of the black bean garlic spicy soup broth!) soooooooo good! Even my meat-eating cousins thought it was the best thing we ordered and the best miso soup they'd ever tasted! Here are some pics from my phone:

VEGAN MISO SOUP IN SPICY BLACK BEAN GARLIC SAUCE:

Left: Roasted Beet, Orange & Mache Salad w/ pine nuts and Humboldt Fog goat cheese vinaigrette (SO YUM!)

To Right: Miso Glazed Kobucha (Japanese pumpkin/squash) was so-so, wouldn't order again :(

Also, we got some cocktails, which were strong and yummy! And the vibe in there was cute, fun, and chill.  Will DEF be going back again SOON....even if its just for the VEGAN SOUP!!

My Saturday

So, after a good hike at Runyon this afternoon, my friends and I decided on a late lunch at Aroma Cafe in Hollywood.  You can check out the menu here: Aroma Cafe Hollywood. They have another location in Encino with a similar menu w/o any meat or poultry (Kosher). Because of the whole kosher thing, they tend to have good options for vegetarians, e.g. Hummus with eggplant and cucumber salad, Grape leaves, Salads, Egg Dishes, Different platters with cheese and dips, Fish, Yummy Jerusalem Bagel sandwiches that are sooo YUM ATTACK! Mannny options...

I went for the "SABICH" (on the bottom right of the pic) aka hummus platter with roasted eggplant, tomato and cucumber salad, pickles, pita bread, and a hard-boiled egg. oh, and a side of grape leaves :)  oh, and my buddies and i shared the grilled artichoke as an appetizer too! It was good, but very heavy, i feel like i ate a ton!

Aroma is a good place because it has tons of options, for meat-eaters and veggie-only eaters, so it works for everyone. Oh, btw, they also have AN AMAZING BAKERY AND COFFEE SELECTION! I think most of the desserts are prepared with dairy, but there is always one option that is completely dairy-free but may contain eggs (PAREVE).

Check 'em out!

San Diego Weekend Trip

So, my girls and I took a last minute weekend trip to San Diego last Saturday. Whilst on my morning walk along the boat dock, I came across this adorable bookstore/coffee house: Upstart Crow Bookstore & Coffeehouse.  Among the awesome book selection, they have yummy coffee and great healthy food choices.  I was looking for something sweet and nutty to go with my americano, and to my delight, came across these lovely cookies: Nutridel Vegan Crisp Cookies.  I opted for the Flax Seed one and it was DELICIOUS!! No refined sugar, full of fiber, and good tasting?? Now, this is blog-worthy! They sell 'em all over SD and in some health foody restaurants in LA, so check out the website and get your butts over there ASAP! Along with a cup of coffee, they are the start to the perfect healthy happy-day! :)

Foodies Rejoice!

Hello All... So if you're here it's probably because you did a search for vegetarian food eateries, or hidden yummy restaurants, or somethin to that effect...

You've come to the right place!  I'm gonna spare everyone the "I am from... I love this...I enjoy that.." preface and get straight to the goods....FOOD.

I'm excited to start my first blog with an awesome new find! Interim Cafe in the city of Santa Monica (on Wilshire btwn 5th and 6th). Here's the cafe menu: Interim Cafe Menu.  I stumbled upon this place today on my bike ride from Weho to SaMo, while jonesin' for something cold and yummy! I believe the chef who opened the place in the 90s used to work at Newsroom Cafe, so you can expect a healthful, fresh menu here too! Not just that though, the food is YUM ATTACK! from the breakfast items, to the tamale platter, and great salad, sandwich, soup combos. Also, great smoothies. But the best part about Interim Cafe...?  THE VEGAN CHOCOLATE SOFT SERVE!!!! Did I mention, it's homemade???! So creamy, so good, and healthy? This place is a GEM!

Ok, so above is the front page of the menu showing the CHOCOLATE SALVATION ( aka amazing vegan soft serve) and on the right is what I ordered: the vegan hot tamale platter. I also ordered the Chocolate Salvation with roasted almonds and chocolate sauce but couldn't manage to take a pic before scarfing it down :)

I will definitely be going back VERY SOON. So more pics to come shortly....
