I like food. And although I can appreciate the decadence of all kinds of foods, I have opted for a conscious, vegetarian (mainly vegan) lifestyle. I believe that anyone can make decadent food by just adding fats, butter, and sugar to recipes, thats easy, but to find those who can master delicious food without the extreme use of these things, now those are the TRUE ARTISTS. So this blog is a journey, a journey in the land of yummy, hidden, healthy foods wherever I can find them!

Craig's West Hollywood
Yes. Craig's in WeHo is a steakhouse, a high-end steakhouse at that. But, lucky for us, a year back it added a bunch of vegan options to the menu!
Here are the options:
Vegetable Soup (vegan) 10
It's really so great to see so many non-vegetarian restaurants offer vegan options nowadays! Craig's has great food and great cocktails/wines as well! Gooooooo
Here are the options:
Vegetable Soup (vegan) 10
Vegan Sausage Pizza 18
(san marzano tomato, soy chorizo, vegan cheese)
Vegan Chicken Parmigiana 28
(gardein, marinara sauce, vegan cheese)
Spaghetti Squash Primavera 26
(carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, marinara)
Vegan Spaghetti Bolognese 23
Warm Quinoa Salad 24
(sautéed spinach, white beans, sweet potato,
mushrooms, garlic, caramelized onions)
Stuffed Peppers 24
(with fresh market vegetables, brown rice & marinara)
Stella’s Best Vegan Ice Cream 12
hand-made, daily flavors
Vegan Chocolate Cake 13

I'm backkkkkk....Well, for now anyways!
Hello All-
Happy New Year! I know it's been over a year since I posted anything, but I had a legitimate reason: I met an amazing man last August and have been having the time of my life with him! But don't fret, I haven't stopped being a "veggiehiddentreasure" afficianado! As it happens, my boyfriend is also a foodie, a decadent-foods foodie, but a foodie nonetheless. So, needless to say we eat A LOT!
There's been a lot of change on the vegan/vegetarian scene in LA the past year and a half....Some great stuff, some not so great, so let's get to it...
1. CROSSROADS. Yup, this gets the number one spot. The opening of LA's first high-end entirely vegan menu is nothing short of AMAZING! On top of that, it doesn't hurt that the food is remarkably delicious. I've been there several times, and each time I enjoyed every single dish I tried (with the exception of the lasagna that seemed to have some rancid cheese action going on.) Here are some of my faves at Crossroads:

Leonor's Vegetarian Restaurant in North Hollywood
First, go here: Leonor's Vegetarian Restaurant.
Looks good, huh? This place is truly a Veggie Hidden Treasure... Delicious, healthy, vegetarian grub tucked away in a shopping center in North Hollywood. Tujunga & Victory, to be exact. So, let me preface by saying that not everything at Leonor's is vegan, but everything, to my knowledge, is vegetarian. So, if you're a vegan, stay away from the cheese and several meat substitutes on the menu. Just ask the lady at the front, she's very helpful and friendly! So, I ordered the Vegan Chicken Tostada (pictured here) and it was good. A baked corn tortilla topped with pinto beans, vegan chicken, lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, red onion, and 2 salsas on the side (pico and spicy green). Soooo, Leonor's doesn't use salt BUT they do supply a yummy spice substitute in a salt shaker that does the trick! They had me fooled! So, all in all, this place is great, lots of options (pizza, mexican, sandwiches, salads, soups, .....
Oh, one last thing! The lady in front also recommended I try their specialty: Flax Seed Iced Tea! This thing is YUMMMMMMMM!!! If you go here, GET THIS and try to hold back from downing it in the first 5 seconds! Made with prune juice, flax seeds, and honey (so technically, not vegan)...
Enjoy!
